Phenolic Sleeve is suitable for general electrical applications to assist in isolating bolts from flanges when galvanic corrosion is likely to occur. This material is not recommended for use in alkaline environments and is unaffected by most organic solvents.
A phenolic bolt sleeve is a tube, typically made from a phenolic resin composite, that insulates a bolt from its flange to prevent galvanic corrosion between dissimilar metals, particularly in pipeline and electrical applications. While historically used, they are now often replaced by stronger, less brittle materials like Mylar or G11 glass epoxy for applications with high bolt torque.
Whilst Phenolic Sleeve (and washers) have been widely used over the years it does tend to be fragile and can become brittle and crack or break if under bolt torque, significant stress or if not handled with care.
This is where Mylar Sleeve is now used in place of Phenolic Sleeve.
Available in all standard bolt sizes to suit both Imperial and Metric.
