RTJ octagonal gasket is a type of Ring Type Joint gasket designed to provide a superior and more resilient seal than traditional oval RTJ gaskets, particularly in high-pressure and high-vibration applications.
The “octagonal” refers to the gasket’s cross-sectional shape, which has a broader contact surface, increasing its efficiency and making it less sensitive to minor imperfections on the flange’s seating surface.
RTJ – Type R Octagonal is a modified oval joint ring to provide better sealing performance. It is used on standard ring joint flat bottom groove flanges. A wider contact area means the gasket is more forgiving of minor imperfections or damage on the flange’s groove face
Style R gaskets are manufactured in accordance with both API 6A and ASME B16.20 size/ratings, all certified to API 6A through EN10204 Type 3.2.
Available in sizes R11 through to R105. Range of materials include 316Stainless Steel, Soft Iron, Low Carbon Steel, PTFE Coated and F5 Alloy Steel.
